The 'holding hands' case has been postponed to April 30 as Magistrate, Rashihah Ghazali had an urgent meeting to attend today.

The proceedings were to have continued with the testimony of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officer Rosmi Mahmud, 48.

Ooi Kean Thong and Siow Ai Wei are contesting a summons issued under Section 8(1) of the Public Parks By-Law (Federal Territory) 1981 for allegedly kissing and hugging at the KLCC Park on Aug 2, 2003.

The couple, who have since separated, insisted that they were merely reading letters and holding hands when they were approached by the DBKL officers who allegedly issued the summonses after the couple refused to pay them off.

If found guilty, Ooi and Siow are liable to a maximum jail sentence of one year or a fine not exceeding RM2,000, or both.

They are represented by S Selvam, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Ariffin Hisham is prosecuting the case.
