Malaysia's February trade surplus declined 0.07 percent to RM7.6 billion, little changed from RM7.605 billion ringgit in January, the government said Tuesday.

Exports in February were worth RM41.1 billion, 14.4 percent lower from January, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry said in a statement.

Compared to a year ago, February's exports were 2.8 percent lower, a decline the ministry attributed to "shorter working days and festivities."

Exports of electrical and electronic products, transport equipment, refined petroleum products and crude petroleum were lower, it said.

However, Miti said significant increases were registered in exports to Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Germany, South Korea, China, Netherlands, Thailand and the United States.

The RM7.6 billion trade surplus was the highest recorded for a February month and the 112th consecutive month of trade surplus since November 1997, the ministry said.

The RM7.605 billion ringgit surplus recorded in January was revised from the RM6.61 billion figure released last month.
