I am a voter and I am deeply insulted by the antics of PPP president M Kayveas. The PPP joined the Barisan Nasional in the early 70s. After that, it lost most of its seats in the 1974 elections, a far cry from the four parliamentary and 12 state seats it won in 1969.

Ever since, the party has been at the mercy of the BN. It is a credit to BN that although PPP has lost its voter base, it is still accommodated in the coalition. In the last election, PPP was given the parliamentary seat of Bukit Gantang but the voters refused to accept Kayveas as their candidate.

Gerakan was then considerate enough to exchange the Taiping seat for Bukit Gantang for one term.

Now Kayveas is playing some silly game such as claiming a large number of members for the PPP and that this should mean the party be given more seats to contest in the coming general elections.

If he wants more seats, the question then is, 'What percentage do PPP members make up in each of the constituencies asked for?

What Kayveas should have done is to win the hearts and minds of the voters in Bukit Gantang so as to persuade them to accept him as their candidate.
