Former communications and multimedia minister Annuar Musa will not appeal the decision after being fired from Umno.
Annuar, who is also Ketereh Umno division chief, said that he believed the leadership of the party no longer needed his services.
"I have made a decision, I will not appeal.
"If we want to appeal, we have to know what was wrong (about the decision). If it is wrong, we appeal.
"But, I don't even know what the accusations are. (I) was not called.
“I was never asked to give an explanation. There was no call as a friend," he told a press conference at the Muafakat Nasional office in Damansara, today.
The former Ketereh MP was asked if he would make a follow-up appeal after being dismissed from Umno last week.
Annuar, who previously held the Ketereh parliamentary seat for three terms, was dropped as a candidate by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in GE15.
There was speculation then that Annuar may end up contesting in the election under Perikatan Nasional. However, he decided to stay with Umno until he was fired by the party’s supreme council on Dec 8.
Meanwhile, Annuar said Muafakat will not be involved in politics.
“Muafakat is an NGO and will cooperate with all parties including the government of the day.
“Muafakat’s motto ‘to care, to unite, to respect’ is a slogan used by Muafakat based on the values of loving peace, goodwill and true unity (and this message) is something that should be nurtured and nourished continously till it becomes something that is inherited from generation to generation.
“As long as the political parties hold firm to the goal stated in Muafakat’s constitution, we are ready to cooperate,” Annuar said.
