GE15 | Khairy Jamaluddin has confessed to having a disdain for some Umno leaders and wishes to cleanse his party should he successfully capture Sungai Buloh as BN’s candidate in this general election.
Among other things, he admitted to having a bigger plan following his capture of Sungai Buloh.
This includes bringing changes to the country, Umno, and BN so that the Malay community could have the largest political body in Malaysia that it could be proud of.
“I don’t want to stop in Sungai Buloh simply because competing here is the biggest challenge in my political career. It’s not easy to win here, but if I win, I want to bring us all, not now but maybe in the next five or 10 years to lead the leadership of the country.
“I also want to bring change to my party (Umno) and want Umno to be seen again as a noble vessel for the Malay community. Nowadays, many people meet and tell me it’s not that they don’t like Umno but they don't like some (individuals) in Umno.
“The media should not compare me to (my party) president (Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) but this is the truth and the reality. Me and other friends want to return Umno as a Malay political body that is noble, clean, evolving, that has good leaders and can be trusted like it was in the past,” Khairy was quoted as saying in a Berita Harian report.
The Umno man said this while speaking at the Majlis Silaturrahim bersama Pertubuhan Amal Kebajikan Agama dan Masyarakat di Kelab Rahman Putra last night.
From Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya
Further, Khairy insisted in a cynical manner that there is a need to admit that Umno needs to change in order to return the party to its former glory.
Among other things, he admitted that Umno has gone astray and needs to be corrected so that the party can return to its roots.

“We are speaking truthfully. Let’s not hide anymore. Malays always had sentimental feelings towards Umno. It’s just that Umno has gone astray and needs to go back to its roots and needs to be corrected again.
“I want to win GE15 to ensure Ismail Sabri Yaakob remains as prime minister. After that, we will clean up Umno and bring back the confidence of the people.
“I’m a reformist in Umno and I can’t keep my mouth shut. That’s why I was sent to Sungai Buloh. If no one dares to come forward, it will never change.
“That’s why my battle this time is not only for Sungai Buloh but for the future of the country, Umno and BN. If I win, God willing, we can see big changes. Starting from Sungai Buloh and ending in Putrajaya,” said the outgoing health minister.
Commenting on the challenges of contesting the parliamentary seat of Sungai Buloh, Khairy said that he rose up to the challenge of contesting in a state that has been dominated by Pakatan Harapan since 2008.
As a result, he expressed his hopes that the people of Sungai Buloh can support his bigger mission to move ahead and lead the country in the future.
“For the first time, there is a representative from my party (Umno) who is a cabinet minister, who dares to contest (in an unsafe area) in Selangor.
“All this time, the big figures in my party have always tried and chosen safe seats. That’s why there is no great competition in Selangor. In the past, only Noh Omar won. That was in Tanjung Karang.
“No one even dares to come to a town like Sungai Buloh. Even in Kuala Selangor, no one dares, except for (outgoing finance minister) Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz. Even though there are a few statements from me and the president (which are differing), in the end, I also chose to fight here,” he said.
Meanwhile, Khairy assured that he will visit Sungai Buloh regularly if he wins the seat, denying assertions that elected reps are only seen “seasonally”.
“I want to be a representative who can provide the best service to everyone. Some people ask whether KJ (Khairy) will be in the area or not because many people meet their representatives once a year or once every five years.
“My house is not far away. Only in Bukit Damansara. There is no reason for me not to be in the area.
“If you want to test me, when there is a flood, send a text, ‘KJ 15 minutes, be here now’, see what happens. If there are no obstacles or matters abroad, I will come to the area, no problem,” he said.
