The report on Putrajaya’s investigation into former attorney-general Tommy Thomas’ book is now publicly accessible on the website of the Prime Minister’s Department’s Legal Affairs Division.
This comes about a week after caretaker prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the report will be declassified following a decision made by the cabinet on Sept 30.
The report, available for viewing in PDF format, is in English and consists of 225 pages.
Last December, the cabinet set up a task force to probe Thomas’ book titled ‘My Story: Justice in the Wilderness’.
The book covered Thomas’ stint as attorney-general from 2018 to 2020. Among others, he addressed the appointment of judges, alleged interference by the executive in the judiciary, and claims of selective prosecution.
On Sept 30, Ismail Sabri announced the cabinet has ordered enforcement agencies to act on recommendations contained in the investigation report.
This includes probing Thomas under the Sedition Act 1948, Official Secrets Act 1972, and the MACC Act 2009.
