Tuan Ibrahim: Umno’s ‘three conditions’ not in formal statement

Speaking to reporters in Parliament, Tuan Ibrahim (above) was asked for comments on media reports quoting Zahid issuing PAS with three conditions - including the party must sever political ties with Bersatu and exit Perikatan Nasional if it wanted to cooperate with Umno.
Zahid reportedly said PAS must also announce publicly that it has mufaraqah (leave a congregation) from Bersatu and PN.
"I see his official statement made no mention of the conditions.
"So I think if it was true there are three conditions, he (Zahid) would have included it in his official statement.
“But his official statement did not mention any conditions," said Tuan Ibrahim.
On Sunday, several media reports quoted Zahid as saying these three conditions must be fulfilled in order for PAS and Umno to work together.
Zahid, who is also BN chairperson, at the time said he had communicated the three conditions to PAS in his meeting with party president Abdul Hadi Awang earlier.
Zahid was met by reporters after a BNComms function in Alor Gajah, Melaka.
Later the same day, Zahid released an official written statement confirming his meeting with Hadi on Sept 17, with no mention of the three conditions.
In the statement, the Bagan Datuk MP Zahid said Umno has never let go of its original "ummah unification" agenda, first pursued with PAS through Muafakat Nasional.
However, Zahid mentioned that he would never accept those who committed ongoing treachery and had declared BN as their main enemy.
