The MACC has arrested a total of eight individuals linked to the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), in connection with investigations into the Shah Alam Sustainable Drainage Masterplan.
Malay-daily Berita Harian said the latest arrests yesterday saw three more MBSA officers detained, bringing the total number of officers under remand to seven individuals. The eighth individual arrested was said to be a contractor.
The officers arrested include two engineers, an assistant engineer and an assistant administrator.
According to Berita Harian, one of the engineers is believed to have been tasked to prepare related documents and a list of contractors for the flood mitigation project.
Further, it was reported that MACC has identified 68 companies believed to be on the list, accused of being offered a tender for the project.
Shah Alam Mayor Zamani Ahmad Mansor yesterday confirmed that an MACC raid had taken place at MBSA last Monday.
MACC senior director of investigations Hishamuddin Hashim also told Malaysiakini that three arrests have been made following the initial raid, and the individuals were placed under a seven-day remand order.
