Umno still hounding PM
Umno was among several parties which held large gatherings in the Klang Valley to discuss preparations for the 15th general election.
However, Umno is the only party that is demanding Prime Minister Ismail Sabri - their vice-president - to hold the general election immediately.
Leading the charge was Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who claimed that this was necessary for political stability and not because of the criminal trials he is facing.
This Umno meeting also decided to kickstart its signature campaign to petition the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to pardon jailed former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Najib's message from jail
Najib Abdul Razak may be behind bars, but his words still reached the Umno faithful on Saturday.
During the special briefing for party delegates, Nooryana Najwa read out her father's handwritten note, in which he claimed that he was not given a fair trial.
Najib also warned those in attendance that what happened to him could happen to anyone else.
As for Nooryana, she thanked her father's supporters and said her father has done many good deeds for Malaysia.
This, Nooryana said, was because "the rakyat are like oxygen for daddy".

PN expects Ismail Sabri to keep his promise
Perikatan Nasional expects to be consulted by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the general election date.
Speaking at the PN convention on Saturday, coalition leader Muhyiddin Yassin told supporters that Ismail Sabri had promised to do so.
Muhyiddin also claimed that Ismail Sabri would be personally tabling Budget 2023, instead of Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
The tabling of Budget 2023 has been brought forward to Oct 7 from Oct 27.

What else is happening?
The police will be calling up PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for blaming corruption on non-Muslims and non-bumiputera. He was investgated under Section 505(C) of the Penal Code on statements conducive to public mischief and incitement, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 2008 for abuse of network services.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has goaded Special Functions Minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad to file a defamation suit against him (Rafizi). This was after Abdul Latiff claimed he was wrongly implicated by Rafizi in the controversial littoral combat ship (LCS) project.
Muda secretary-general Amir Abdul Hadi was charged under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (PAA) over a rally on Aug 14 that demanded answers on the LCS controversy. He was the only one to be charged over the rally which involved 200 people.
