Former DAP Selangor chief Ong Chee Keng today explained he had criticised the manner in which he was removed and did not make any personal attacks against the party leaders.

"I never addressed the DAP CEC (Central Executive Committee) leaders as eunuchs," he told a press conference at the party's Kajang branch office.

"I was describing the process used by secretary general (Lim Guan Eng) as eunuch politics," he added.

He reiterated that the manner in which Lim had 'secretly' planned to topple him through certain trusted members went against normal procedure and democracy.

He named DAP political and education bureau director Lee Kee Hiong, newly elected Selangor secretary Lau Weng San, newly elected Selangor chief Ean Yong Hian Wah and NGO bureau chief Ronnie Liu as Lim's trusted members.

"This the type of eunuch politics, a practice in ancient China," he said.

Ong was responding to Lim who yesterday lambasted the ex-Selangor chief for his 'unjustified and irresponsible' criticism of the CEC members.

However, Ong accused the secretary-general of focusing on the word 'eunuch' to divert attention from the real issue.

He also questioned the legality of the previous Selangor state committee emergency meeting held on Jan 12, where 14 members who attended unanimously passed a no-confidence vote against him. The CEC has 20 members in total.

"If the previous meeting was legal, why do they need to held another meeting tomorrow? Hence, it showed that the CEC did not recognise the previous meeting," he noted.

Ong said he did not recognise the Jan 12 meeting because it allegedly contravened the party constitution.

He also revealed that he had submitted his resignation letter to the DAP headquarters yesterday relinquishing all his positions.

Apart from being the state chief, he was also DAP assistant treasurer, CEC member, Selangor committee member and Selangor state legal bureau head.

"I have already resigned, hence I will not attend tomorrow's meeting," he said.

Asked on Lim's statement that he is contented being the secretary-general and has no desire to lead any state committees, Ong asked why did the former contest in the 2005 state elections in Melaka then.

Ong claimed that Lim (photo) needed a political base to compete in this year's party polls and he wished to use Selangor as a platform to cultivate his influence.

"I always welcome him to be the chair (of Selangor), I have no problems with that but why did he use such a method?" he said.
