Bahau rep should resign and re-contest
I refer to the malaysiakini report Bahau rep challenged to quit seat.
I agree with the Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman Loke Siew Fook that the Bahau state assemblyman who has quit the party should resign from his seat and re-contest it in a by-election.
Regrettably, many of our politicians have no principles, a virtue they all claim to have when they are campaigning for votes during general elections. Worse still is when some of them, like frogs, jumps from one party to another without any sense of shame or responsibility to the voters who had voted them into office based on the fact that they represented a particular political party which the constituents supported.
However, there is a precedent set by Shahrir Samad, a man of principle and integrity, who had once resigned as the MP for Johor Baru and re-contested the seat as an independent - and won.
Lim Fui Ming should emulate what Shahrir had done and not go around claiming he won the seat because he is Lim Fui Ming and not because he was a DAP candidate.
Resign and let the voters in the constituency of Bahau decide whom they want to represent them in the state assembly.
