The government has advised Malaysians to exercise caution when travelling to the Thai capital of Bangkok, saying the situation was "unpredictable" after New Year's Eve bomb blasts.

The eight coordinated explosions killed three people and wounded 38, including nine foreigners.

"Our citizens need to take extra precautionary measures if they are intent on making a trip to Bangkok due to the unpredictable situation there," Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said, according to the official Bernama news agency.

Thailand's army-installed Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said Wednesday authorities still had no suspects in connection with the deadly blasts.

Surayud and the junta that took power after a coup in September believe the attacks were staged by factions linked to the fallen government of ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who has been living in exile since losing power.
