With regards to the letter Wake up to real objective of Greek Cypriots , I would like to mention that this is one of the most inaccurate letters ever. The fact that the writer is writing to a newspaper in Malaysia does not mean that people in Cyprus cannot read it.

The fact that the first president of the republic was a religious figure, is wrong. Keep in mind that the British, Turks and Greeks were involved. However, all of the issues of conflict were national and not religious.

I am a very close relative of the most outspoken religious leader during the referendum in April 2004. Not even he himself believes that he had the power that the writer attributes to the church.

The reason that the international community agreed to the Annan plan was because it was backed by the US and UK. The rest just wanted to get the Cyprus issue over with.

The real reason that the Annan plan was rejected was because it was simply unfair to the Greek Cypriots instead rewarding Turkey who is the aggressor. The plan was also generous to the Turkish Cypriots beyond their population numbers.
