Teach children how to respond to emergencies
I refer to the letter A true blue Malaysia Boleh story.
I read Zara Davies' letter and felt her frustration. I am sure the victim, too, would have felt her empathy and efforts in trying to save his life. It's really sad when there are people in Malaysia who behave like the emergency centre attendant who took her call.
Zara did the right thing and Malaysia would be better off if only there are more people like her. Things can only get better if children are taught in schools to value life and the right way to respond to an emergency.
But this will not be done in Malaysian schools which seemed to be governed by policies based on race and religion. Perhaps, like all other matters in Malaysia, Zara's letter will be history in a month's time.
However, don't be disheartened Zara, there are many Malaysians out there who support you and value your actions on that day. Best wishes to you.
