PAS Selangor Youth today submitted a memorandum to the Anti-Corruption Agency urging it to investigate the graft allegations made against Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo and not succumb to political pressure.

The Youth wing's chief Sallehen Mukhyi when met at the ACA headquarters in Putrajaya said they were disappointed with the ACA as it was yet clarify whether an investigation had been initiated.

The allegations, which among others, included the dispensation of lands and government projects were made by media activist, Amhad Lufti Othman, who since last October has lodged four reports with the corruption watchdog.

"We hope the ACA will not succumb to political pressure but use its provision of power to deter any attempt to quash the investigation," Sallehen told reporters after handing the memorandum to an ACA officer.

The three-page memorandum was addressed to ACA director-general Zulkipli Mat Noor.

Sallehen, who is also Sungai Besar state assembly representative, said the officer promised to reply to them as soon as possible.

He said the people are eager to know the truth about the allegations against Mohd Khir as the state chief had made contradictory statements and "lies".

"Mohd Khir said he did not purchase a plot of land with a 50 percent discount from the state government but the evidence later obtained by Ahmad Lutfi had shown otherwise," said Sallehen.

Abuse of power

On Oct 23, Ahmad Lutfi lodged his first report alleging that Mohd Khir abused his power to dispense lands and government projects worth over RM100 million to a small group of seemingly connected individuals and companies.

This included a proposed 20.5km road construction project in Sekinchan which was given to a company at RM92.5 million, which works out to more than RM4.5 million per km. The company is said to be blacklisted in several states as it has delayed many government projects.

Another allegation was that a 100-acre land in Shah Alam was given to four companies with similar names on their boards of directors. One man was a director in all the four companies while three others were directors of at least two of the named companies.

In another project, lands of 50-acre each in Kuala Langat were given to companies whose directors were in their early-20s.

The young directors were all appointed on the same date last May, and less than two months after that, the companies had their applications for lands approved.

A check with the company registrar showed that the companies shared the same address.

Fresh allegations

Following this, Ahmad Lutfi lodged another three reports with ACA since then, the last being made yesterday.

Among the new allegations were that Mohd Khir had purchased land with a 50 percent discount from the price offered by the state government, and that he was involved in the awarding of a 435-hectare logging site in a forest reserve last April to a company which was only four months old then.

Mohd Khir had denied the charges and instead alleged that PAS state assemblyman for Sungai Burung Dr Hasan Mohd Ali was also given privileges in the form of a plot of land in the same forest reserve in the early 1990s.

Hasan who was present at the ACA headquarters this morning refused to comment on the allegation made by Mohd Khir beyond saying, "I have left that to my lawyer."

However, he said the land given to him has been developed into a motivation camp site since 1993.

Also present today were Ahmad Lutfi and some 10 representatives from PAS Selangor Youth.
