No more list forbidding certain businesses from operating.
Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein today announced that Kelantan and Sarawak will move to Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) on Jan 3, 2022.
This means the whole country is now in Phase 4, under which there is no longer a "negative list" that forbids certain types of businesses from operating due to Covid-19.
"I congratulate and thank all the quarters involved, particularly the state governments, that have worked hard to manage the pandemic in their respective states in order to hit the targets under the NRP," he said.
Hishammuddin, who is is also the senior minister overseeing enforcement of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) against Covid-19, said the decision was made following a risk evaluation involving the Health Ministry and National Security Council.
However, the Sembrong MP cautioned the public not to let their guard down.
"Covid-19 is a threat to security and health, particularly with the spread of the Omicron variant.
"All quarters must be disciplined and responsible in abiding by the SOP," he said.
He urged those who qualify for their Covid-19 booster shots to get them, on top of ensuring mask-wearing and physical distancing.
