The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah went out to observe the flood situation in the capital last night.

Pictures of the king wading through floodwaters near the World Trade Center (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur were shared via the Istana Negara Facebook.

"His Majesty's gesture is a reflection of his high personality and love for his people, regardless of the place, time and weather," read the post.

The Klang Valley has been struck by floods, causing thousands of residents to be evacuated as well as leaving many road users stranded, while several landslides were also reported.

Floods were reported in Pahang, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Kelantan as well.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has instructed all relevant ministries to immediately mobilise assets to the flood-affected areas to ensure that the people are rescued and placed in temporary evacuation centres.
