Najib requests postponement of Dec 8 SRC appeal decision
Najib Abdul Razak's legal team led by lawyer Shafee Abdullah has requested for a postponement of the Court of Appeal decision, initially scheduled to be delivered on Dec 8, on the former prime minister's conviction and sentence for the misappropriation of RM42 million in SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.
The request for the postponement to a date after Dec 13 was made as Najib would be under home quarantine upon his return from a trip to Singapore.

Najib Abdul Razak's legal team led by lawyer Shafee Abdullah has requested for a postponement of the Court of Appeal decision, initially scheduled to be delivered on Dec 8, on the former prime minister's conviction and sentence for the misappropriation of RM42 million in SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.
The request for the postponement to a date after Dec 13 was made as Najib would be under home quarantine upon his return from a trip to Singapore.
"The appellant humbly requests for the date on Dec 8 to be vacated and the new decision date be set in the next week between Dec 13 and 17 or other dates deemed appropriate by the honourable court.
"The reason for this matter is that the appellant will be in Singapore until Dec 5 and upon return is mandated to serve a self-quarantine for seven days," Najib's lawyers said in a Nov 23 letter submitted to the Court of Appeal's registrar.
Najib was granted initial permission for the temporary release of his passport, from Oct 20 to Nov 22, so that he could be in Singapore to be with his expectant daughter Nooryana Najwa.
He later applied for an extension as he needed to manage the BN machinery for the Malacca state assembly election, which was held last Saturday.
Further, the lawyers said, Najib could only be present in court beginning Dec 13, after the end of his self-quarantine.
They added that the prosecution has also been informed of the request and it did not register any objection.
Additionally, the defence lawyers also submitted several other cases involving parties involved in the appeal, to be heard between Dec 8 and 23.
The Court of Appeal in Putrajaya had on Nov 23 initially set Dec 8 for the decision on Najib's appeal.
The hearing of the appeal, before a three-judge panel led by Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil, lasted 15 days and was completed on May 18. The other two judges are Has Zanah Mehat and Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera.
