PAS leader vows to fight eviction notice on training centre
Dr Hassan Ali who claimed the eviction was "politically motivated" said he is also considering legal action against the state government.
"The Sabha Total Training Centre in Hulu Langat will continue to be used to conduct activities related to Islamic affairs," said Hassan who is the executive chairperson of Sabha Group.
Yesterday, Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo announced that the state forestry department had issued an eviction notice to Sabha Group.
Khir said Sabha Group has been given a three-month ultimatum to close the centre because the operator's permit had expired.
He said if Hassan refused to evacuate the land before February next year, a second notice would be issued instructing the camp's operator to evacuate within 30 days.
"Failing which we will not hesitate to demolish all types of construction inside the camp," said Khir.
Catchment area
Sabha Group has occupied the land since 1993 when Hassan was an Umno member. However, the company was unable to renew its operator's permit since 1999.
Khir said the state government had to issue the permit to Hassan in 1993 because he had already erected the centre on the land.
"Forcing him to close the centre at that time may have affected his business," he said.
Khir added that the state government would not renew the permit as it wanted to preserve the place as a catchment area.
