The son and father of murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu arrived in Malaysia yesterday evening.

Quoting a police source, Bernama reported that Altantunya's 16-month-old son, her father together with about 10 other family members arrived at the KL International Airport (KLIA) at about 6pm.

However, they managed to evade a horde of pressmen who had gathered at the airport until 10pm to interview the family.

It is learnt that the family members were led out of the airport's arrival hall through another exit to avoid the media and also for security reasons.

According to Bermana, a check with the police at 11pm found that statements had been recorded from the family members at 8pm.

Family members of the well-known political analyst, who was among those detained in connection with the case, were also seen at the city police headquarters. Accompanying them was the analyst's lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.

Media barred

The media was barred from entering the premises.

So far, six people - the analyst, two private investigators and three police personnel - have been remanded until Monday over the case.

The gruesome murder of Altantuya, 28, has received wide local and international media coverage.

The stunning beauty is believed to have been shot dead before her body was blown to bits with explosives at a secondary forest near the Subang Dam in Puncak Alam, Shah Alam two weeks ago.

Altantunya arrived in Malaysia on Oct 6 with her sister and a cousin to trace the analyst, who is said to have shared an intimate relationship with the model.
