He said the memorandum has specific clauses that stress good governance and independence of the judiciary, among others.
"If you look closely, the MOU stresses on good governance, which would not happen if corruption is rampant.
"Secondly, it was also stressed in the agreement about independence for the judiciary.
"I want to tell TI that the anti-corruption agenda has been one of our (Harapan) fundamental principles, and we would not compromise on this," the Port Dickson MP said, referring to the anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M).
Anwar was responding to a statement by TI-M yesterday during a virtual press conference this morning.
The non-governmental organisation was concerned that the memorandum did not include reform promises regarding the Political Financing Bill, separation of powers between the attorney-general and the public prosecutor, and the establishment of the MACC as a commission by the constitution.
TI-M also said it was cautious about promises of reforms that do not have clear intended outcomes and lack key reforms that have been delayed multiple times by both governments and several prime ministers since the last election.
"The rakyat deserves an independent and efficient MACC and public prosecutor to prevent corruption and a professional Parliament with integrity," said the statement.
Anwar stressed that Harapan's fight against corruption is not curtailed by the MOU.
"The speeches delivered by me and my friends after the memorandum was signed clearly show our stand on the destruction brought about by corruption," he said.
On Monday, Ismail Sabri Yaakob's government and Harapan inked an MOU on Transformation and Political Stability.
The deal essentially will see Harapan take an undertaking not to obstruct the government on critical votes in Parliament that could have an implication on its survival, such as the budget.
In exchange, the government will undertake a number of policy decisions and reform efforts advocated by Harapan.
