Former pro-Abim leaders being bashed at Keadilan meets
Sources close to the Abim faction said today the continued 'bashing' has prompted several former leaders to consider taking action to clear their names.
Leading the way was former Keadilan secretary-general Mohd Anuar Tahir.
On Monday, Anuar warned that he will take legal action against his detractors who are 'using' the media to tarnish him.
Anuar who lost his vice-president seat after Keadilan's election last month, claimed several media had portrayed him as not performing his duties according to party procedures.
He said the media have also slammed him for trying to be a champion of factions within the party and his refusal to register many divisions and branches throughout the country.
"Anuar is upset for being held responsible for all the problems in the party," said the sources.
"The impression given was that he is inefficient and dishonest in carrying out his duties as Keadilan secretary-general," they added.
The sources also alleged that a number of party workers - close to the pro-Abim leaders - at the Keadilan secretariat were sacked.
No compromise
The mood in the party now does not permit for a compromise between the Abim and non-Abim factions, said another source.
"To the Abim faction, the recent Keadilan appointments announced by party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail reflects a winner-take-all situation in the party," he added.
According to the source, the Abim faction was hoping to see more positive efforts by the party leadership to close-rank after the party elections.
"So far, it is only a wait-and-see attitude by the new leadership and there is no indication that a solution is forthcoming," he added.
The Abim and non-Abim factionalism in the party was widespread and erupted during the Keadilan annual general meeting early November which also saw the party's inaugural election
Certain quarters within the party labelled the Abim faction as "power-hungry individuals who wanted to take control of Keadilan".
