(AFP) Malaysia and Britain stand "shoulder to shoulder" in condeming terrorism, visiting British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott said today.

"Both countries condemn the terrorists and wish to do all we can to see that terrorism is prevented," Prescott told reporters after meeting Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad at Putrajaya.

"At this present stage, our message is very clear. We've taken action against terrorism, we're pursuing this to the end," he said.

The deputy premier also warned that action would be taken against nations that were associated with or sympathetic to terrorist groups.

Prescott said his talks with Mahathir and later with Deputy Premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi were "very encouraging".

Abdullah told reporters he was happy that both governments continued to share the same view on many issues, and specifically on terrorism.

"We are certainly 100 percent committed to fight terrorism, there's no difference on that," Abdullah said.

Malaysia has condemned the September 11 terror attacks on the United States, but has criticised retaliatory military action in Afghanistan.

Prescott, whose travels took him to the United States, New Zealand and Australia before Malaysia, is sheduled to leave for Vietnam Saturday before heading home.
