MCAs term limit a good start

I refer to Azly Rahman's column, Ideology, idiocy and independence. The author is absolutely right in describing our sordid state of 49th year of independence and if we are to continue in our racial based politic surely we will not see the light at the end of the tunnel.
As the people get more educated and knowledgeable, something must be done to right this state of affair afflicting this lovely nation of ours. The solution seems insurmountable but in every monumental task it always start from a small spark.
In this, we must salute the stand taken by MCA a component party of BN for restricting its leaders to a limited term of office. Certainly we cannot allow leaders of any political parties to sort of perpetuate its hold onto leadership depriving its members of fresh blood and ideas and potential progress. Therefore, in this context we must give credit to where credit is due. Now, that is what must be termed a small step but a giant leap for BN.
Another logical step to take in this direction of moving ahead is for MCA and the other components parties that are racial based to open its door to other races to actually reflect our multi-racial makeup. Surely it will be a popular move to reflect the present need to redress or attempting to put substance to the idea of a Bangsa Malaysia concept. If we wait for our so-called Ketuanan Umno to take the lead in this area then I am afraid it will not happen.
Therefore, I strongly believe that other racially-based component parties must lead in opening its door to other races thus taking a step in ending racially based politics leaving our Ketuanan Umno to continue in their seemingly selfish role to fossilise. Evidently, something must to done to put an end to race-based politics in Malaysia a nation that is officially termed a multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religious nation that is truly Asia must put an end to this selfish approach to Malaysian politics.
It is already 49 years after independence sadly we must confessed we have not grown up. Absolutely frightening we can still see today our future leaders still playing the race and religion card or waving offensive weapons and still says it is alright. Certainly our hope and prayer for this lovely nation of ours has no place for such leaders for we need leaders to champion for one and all a united Malaysia.
