Ampang Umno chief Ismail Kijo passed away at Sungai Buloh Hospital this afternoon, where he was being treated for Covid-19.

Selangor Umno as well as several Umno leaders, including Noh Omar and former Selangor menteri besar Khir Toyo, also announced the former Lembah Jaya assemblyperson's death on their social media accounts.
The BN Ampang chairperson was being treated at the Sungai Buloh Hospital ICU for Covid-19 complications and pronounced dead at 12.33pm this afternoon.
It is understood that Ismail, 69, was among close contacts of Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who tested Covid-19 positive on Jan 14.
Malaysiakini also understands that Ismail’s wife, Rozana Ismail, previously tested positive for Covid-19 but has since recovered and completed the home quarantine period.
