MCMC deactivates Twitter account after old lewd posts discovered
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has deactivated its official Twitter account after netizens discovered old undeleted tweets that allegedly belonged to its previous owner.
Screenshots of the tweets from around 2014 - largely using inappropriate language - were shared not long after MCMC's statement today urging netizens to be polite and maintain decorum when making comments on social media, particularly in the context of the emergency declaration.

Netizens responded by mocking MCMC for the blunder, but the internet regulator in a separate statement tonight claimed that its Twitter account was "hacked" by irresponsible parties.
"The MCMC would like to inform that our official Twitter account @SKMM_MCMC was hacked by irresponsible parties.
"Following that, the account @SKMM_MCMC has been temporarily suspended," it said.
"The public is advised to not be influenced by the postings on the account which are suspicious, offensive and slanderous in nature, and not made by the MACC," MCMC added.
In an immediate reaction, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil questioned MCMC's hacking claim as the tweets were from 2014.
"Is this the work of a hacker or a time traveller?" said the Lembah Pantai MP.
Earlier, an individual using the Twitter handle @NazruiHakim claimed to be the MCMC's account original owner, and that he had sold it, without deleting any tweets, to another person while he was still in secondary school.
The individual said the account at the time of sale had 50,000 followers, and he was unaware of how it eventually became the MCMC's official account.
