A 38-year-old man who recorded the underskirt of a woman at a shopping mall was caught red-handed and handed over to the police.
His activity came to a halt on Dec 31 after he was nabbed by his victim's boyfriend at Sunway Pyramid Mall.
Subang Jaya police chief Khalid Othman said the victim's boyfriend had lodged a report on the incident on the same day.
He reported that while he and his 25-year-old girlfriend were in a boutique, he saw a man carrying a black paper bag with a hole on it.
"The complainant suspected that the man had recorded the victim's underskirt.
"He tailed the suspect and seized the paper bag. He found a phone inside in recording mode," Khalid said.
An auxiliary policeman then hauled the suspect to the Bandar Sunway police station.
According to the police, the suspect is a salesman and has no criminal record.
Meanwhile, in a posting by the alleged victim, she said the suspect was behaving suspiciously near her while she was browsing at the shop.
After her boyfriend noticed a hole on the side of the bag, he confronted the suspect to inspect the paper but the latter refused and instead apologised to him.
"After numerous requests, the pervert then removed his mobile phone from the paper bag, threw the paper bag into the dustbin and attempted to delete the videos while trying to escape," she wrote.
She claimed that the suspect had cited "insanity" as the reason for the activity when probed.
