Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin should go after the source of untruths and false facts rather than threaten the Internet media, bloggers and Netizens with controls, say readers. Other topics that draw in the comments include Khairy Jamaludin's behaviour at the recent Asean meet, the threat of a Sabah takeover and the magistrate on the run.

On Zam wants internet, websites to be controlled

Meng: Again, its double standards time. The former PM, Tun Mahathir has been spewing out what, according to current cabinet ministers, as half-truths and inaccurate facts. The former PM maligns Pak Lah, refers to the current president of Umno as weak and inept to run the country.

Can the Information Minister please tell all of us if it is Tun Mahathir's statements which he is talking about when referring to the Internet bloggers? Rather than warn Netizens and bloggers, why not warn the former PM as well?

What is the percentage of Malaysians who have access to the Internet? I would think many in the rural heartland do not even have access to the Internet. The ceramahs which Tun Mahathir is having definitely has more coverage than Internet websites.

Ah Chong: Eh, Zam, there is a voice more damaging then all the bloggers and Netizens and a hundred Malaysia Today put together.

Here is a man who directly calls the PM and his cabinets 'half past six'. He accuses the PM of practising nepotism and enriching his family. Are these the lies and rumours you are talking about?

Then don't go bullying the weak rakyat in the Internet when you got a loose cannon who is the former Umno president!

I say report it like it is. If there are some who are uncomfortable with real reporting, it is their problem. Or they can do something about it and make sure there is no news to report at all.


On WARNING: Illegals can take over Sabah

MSY: Nobody has done anything with the revelation of Project M since it was reported in malaysiakini a couple of months ago.

Why is there no action from this present government with regards to the accusation that the former PM of the BN government was involved in a ploy to bring in thousands of illegal immigrants into Sabah?

This amounts to treason and giving up of our sovereignty. Something must be done and the AG has to act if there is to be any justice at all.

On M'sian fugitive lives the 'good life' in India

Peter Ooi: I am ashamed that our police, with so much money invested in gathering intelligence reports, could not trace the whereabout of Balbir Kaur for decades. Mind you, Balbir is not a hardcore criminal like the Mamak Gang or Botak Chin. And yet she could evade arrest for such a long time.

What make it even more shameful is that it takes a news media to track Balbir's whereabouts.

Thus, I feel it is only proper that part of the funds meant for gathering intelligence reports be channeled to The New Straits Times.

Now that Balbir is found, the IGP does not even show the urgency to have her brought back.

For the police, all is still not lost yet. They can still redeem their worth by tracking down the many more fugitives who are still on the run.
