Malaysian consumer prices held steady in the month of June, increasing by 3.9 percent compared to the same month a year earlier, the government said today.
No detailed sectoral breakdown of the annual inflation figure for June was given by the Statistics Department.

Month-on-month, the consumer price index in June rose 0.2 percent from May.

For the six months to June, inflation was also 3.9 percent compared to the same period last year, with increases in all the main indices except clothing and footwear, and communications, the department said.

Inflation in April was 4.6 percent after 4.8 percent in March, the highest level in six years, according to previously given figures.
