Strong winds blew a light aircraft in descent off course, forcing the pilot to perform an emergency landing on the busy Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway.

The half-ton two-seater, single-propellor plane hit a lamppost before landing on the stretch of highway adjacent to the Sungai Besi Air Force airport.

Traffic was left at a standstill as Civil Defence Department and Royal Malaysian Air Force rescue team scrambled to the scene and cleared the plane from the road, reports Bernama.

The roads were cleared at about 4.30pm today. There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
