An investigation will be launched into the mysterious distribution in Parliament yesterday of flyers linked to former Malaysia Airlines (MAS) chairperson Tajudin Ramli.

"It is a serious encroachment into Parliament," said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz at a press conference held at his office in Parliament today.

The minister, who oversees parliamentary affairs, said he will ask officials to check the recordings of the closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) in the House.

Nazri said those who distributed flyers in the House without permission could face action but he uncertain under which act. He said he had not seen the flyer personally.

"It shouldn't happen. We can only distribute material that has something to do with
parliamentary proceedings in the House," said the minister.

This morning, deputy speaker Dr Yusuf Yaakob also denied any knowledge of the flyers when the matter was brought up by Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timor).

"This (the distribution of the flyers) shows that the matter (the Tajudin and the MAS bailout) is indeed important and has to be discussed," said Lim, referring to his motion on the MAS controversy which was rejected on Monday.

Yusuf said Lim can still bring up the matter in his debates.

Two MPs got it

The mysterious flyers, purportedly from individuals linked to Tajudin, were received by at least two Barisan Nasional backbenchers yesterday.

However, none of the frontbenchers or opposition parliamentarians have received them.

The flyers, in three different sets totalling 10 pages, detailed Tajudin's 'predicament' over the bail out and buyback scandal surrounding the national carrier.

The flyers, in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, portrayed the business tycoon as a victim in the MAS saga.

Thy were titled 'The Tajudin Ramli's bombshell: Who is the real culprit?', 'The skeletons in Bank Negara's closet' and 'Tajudin Ramli's counterclaim against Danaharta: Why did he do it?' respectively.

The documents, among others, attacked an unnamed minister who was responsible for the estimated RM30 billion losses by Bank Negara for over-hedging "our country's funds in the foreign exchange market".

It is believed that the minister referred to is Finance Minister II Nor Mohamed Yakcop, who was in Bank Negara when the forex losses were incurred.

Speaker Ramli Ngah Talib yesterday has said he did not give any consent for the distribution of such flyers in the House.
