Young Chinese Malaysian women have to be educated to participate in the democratic process so that they do not 'slowly disappear' as stakeholders, according to MCA Beliawanis.

Newly-appointed chairperson Carol Chew Chee Lin said MCA Beliawanis will work with Wanita MCA to engage this group on the importance of taking part in politics, economic, social and international affairs.

"We will groom them to be more analytical of issues around them, so that they can contribute to the betterment of women," she said.

"We have to encourage young women to participate in the political process, or they will slowly disappear from (moves that determine) the country's future. This will not be good for the democratic system."

She pointed out a special role in the areas of education on globalisation, consumer and social issues, including crimes or violence against women, so that they remain well informed.
