Ramadan e-bazaar platform to be developed, says association

The association’s secretary-general Mohamed Zamri Mohammed said a website will be set up so that the trading process can occur through the Ramadan e-bazaar which will have a network with a logistics company.
The initiative is still in its early stages, he said, as they started the process after receiving high demand from bazaar traders who are interested in joining the platform.
“Through such a platform, we will create a network of delivery among the members as well to lower costs… until the requests are high, and we will implement this in the Federal Territories first.
“To implement outside of the Federal Territories, the state associations will each monitor the situation to ensure its success,” he said, as reported by Berita Harian today.
Several states, including Kedah, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Penang and the Federal Territories have taken their own initiative to cancel the operation of Ramadan bazaars to curb the Covid-19 outbreak.
Aside from this initiative, Mohamed Zamri said there have been individual efforts by traders in certain areas to create their own e-bazaar networks through social media like Facebook and WhatsApp.
There are more than 100,000 bazaar traders throughout the country who have been affected by the pandemic because they cannot run their business and their loss is expected to be around RM50 million.
“In Kuala Lumpur alone, there are about 10,000 traders who are affected involving iftar bazaar traders selling food and bazaars selling Hari Raya items,” he said.
Meanwhile, a quick check on Facebook found more than 10 areas, specifically in the Klang Valley and Selangor, have taken proactive steps by creating their own group accounts.
Among them are 'Ramadan Bazaar Online Ampang 68000', 'Ramadan Bazaar Online Wangsa Maju', 'Ramadan Bazaar OTK Puchong Prima', 'Ramadan Bazaar Bandar Puteri Puchong', 'Ramadan Bazaar Putra Perdana Puchong’, ‘Ramadan Bazaar Bandar Kinrara’, ‘Ramadan Bazaar Kelana Jaya’, ‘Ramadan Bazaar Pantai Dalam’, ‘Ramadan Bazaar Putra Heights’, ‘Ramadan Bazaar Alam Megah’ and ‘Ramadan Bazaar Saujana Utama’.
