S'gor MB announces RM272.5m second stimulus package
Selangor Menteri Besar Amiruddin Shaari today announced that all state excos, including himself, will take a 50 percent salary cut for the purpose of donating to the Selangor Covid-19 Fund.
All 56 state assemblymembers will also take a 30 percent pay cut for donations to the fund, with an initial target to raise RM8.07 million including contributions from state government-linked companies.

All 56 state assemblymembers will also take a 30 percent pay cut for donations to the fund, with an initial target to raise RM8.07 million including contributions from state government-linked companies.
"The salaries of state civil servants ranked "Jusa C" and above, as well as top positions in state GLCS, will be cut by 30 percent.
"Meanwhile, civil servants at Grade 44 and Grade 54 are encouraged to donate between RM50 and RM100," said Amiruddin (photo) during a press conference at his official residence in Shah Alam, after the launch of the Selangor Prihatin 2.0 stimulus package.
Amiruddin said RM250,000 have been raised so far and the fund will be used to aid children of frontliners in Selangor.
Earlier, Amiruddin announced the RM272.5 million second stimulus package, as a follow-up to the first phase of RM127.8 million, announced on March 20.
"This means that the state government have spent about RM400 million for the two stimulus packages.
"I am optimistic that Selangor and Malaysia will overcome these challenges just like many other challenges in the past," he said.
Among the new initiatives announced include:
- Covid-19 screenings at red zones with a target of 5,000 people at an estimated cost of RM1.35 million.
- RM1.34 million to provide free food for doctors and nurses at all government hospitals in Selangor throughout the movement control order period.
- RM1.5 million to support child care initiatives for 2,500 frontliners.
- RM100,000 to provide free food for the media and security forces.
- RM50,000 for the Selangor Covid-19 Task Force.
- RM2 million to provide masks, hand sanitisers and gloves for Selangor residents.
- RM3 million for operations of quarantine stations in Selangor, dedicated for the tabligh cluster and Malaysians returning from overseas.
Meanwhile, Amiruddin also announced that all Selangor citizens who tested positive for Covid-19 will be eligible to receive RM1,000.
On top of that, he said another RM1 million will be spent on online counselling sessions for Selangor citizens struggling with mental health issues during the MCO period.
Amiruddin further announced that all automatic repayment of student loans taken from the state government will be suspended from April 1 until Sept 30.
As for farmers and fishermen in Selangor, Amiruddin said RM500,000 has been allocated to ensure there will be no disruption to the food supply.
