Perak MB pledges two months pay to relief fund
CORONAVIRUS | Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu has pledged two months of his salary to the state's Disaster and Social Assistance Fund.
In a statement today, Faizal said he was following the footsteps of the federal cabinet whose members have pledged two months' salary to the federal government's Covid-19 relief fund.

In a statement today, Faizal (above) said he was following the footsteps of the federal cabinet whose members have pledged two months' salary to the federal government's Covid-19 relief fund.
Faizal also expressed gratitude to Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Sultan Azlan Shah for his approval of the Perak Islamic Council's (MAIPk) proposal to channel RM11.95 million in zakat funds to the poor who are affected by the movement control order (MCO).
Meanwhile, he expressed sadness over the death of a Covid-19 patient in Ipoh two days ago. Faizal said this was the first recorded Covid-19 related death in the state.
He also expressed concern that two districts - Hilir Perak and Kinta - have been classified as Covid-19 red zones by the Health Ministry.
In total, there are 151 Covid-19 infections in the state as of yesterday, involving all districts except Kampar. The Hilir Perak district has 48 cases while the Kinta district had 41 as of last night.
In view of this, Faizal appealed to the public to continue observing the MCO and stay at home while practising social distancing.
"I urge all Perakians to be united and cooperate in breaking the Covid-19 infection chain," said Faizal, while urging Muslims to perform the solat hajat after zohor prayers today, especially for the Teluk Intan Hospital staff who are infected by Covid-19.
The hospital is the worst-hit medical facility in the country with 39 infected staff as of yesterday.
