CORONAVIRUS | PTPTN will defer all loan repayments by three months in light of the Covid-19 outbreak and the current movement control order that has halted economic activities in the country.
The statutory body said so today and referred to a similar announcement by Defence Minister Ismail Sabri on the matter.
“The government has agreed to defer loan repayments for all borrowers for the next three months until June 30, effective immediately.
“This deferment is expected to benefit and help almost 1.5 million borrowers [...],” PTPTN said.
Some RM375 million worth of loan repayments are expected to be deferred as part of this initiative, it added.
This same announcement was made yesterday by both Higher Education Minister Dr Noraini Ahmad and PTPTN chairperson Wan Saiful Wan Jan.
However, Wan Saiful later requested the media to retract the statement.
