I refer to your report EC, what reforms?

Shame on the Election Commission head for passing the buck and blaming the Barisan Nasional government for the atrocious state of affairs of our elections. He is chairman of a supposedly independent body. If he finds that the commission is unable to conduct a fair and free election because of executive interference as he had indirectly alleged on numerous occasions, then he should resign. And tell the nation why he resigned.

We have had enough of ex-IGPs, ex-judges and ex-PMs dishing out wisdom of hindsight. What more from an impotent serving trustee who enjoys the perks of the office and yet almost admitting that he lends credence to a farce. Listening to him, one almost thinks he is seeking forgiveness from the Almighty for the sins of the regulatory body he presides over, by feigning helplessness.

Phantom voters, omission of names from electoral roles, multiple voting, fictitious addresses and gerrymandering are some of the sins that will continue to haunt his conscience, if he has one. Of course, it is expected that the perpetrators could be people with incumbent power and resources to circumvent existing safeguards. To say that he is helpless because of loopholes and Parliament's refusal to legislate counter-measures is laughable.

You, Sir, are the guardian that had been entrusted to ensure fairness in election. You, Sir, is where the buck stops, as far as we helpless voters are concerned. Don't blame it on the crooks, for it's the nature of the beasts.

You can come to the people and seek our help by telling the truth. For a start, stop whining and resign. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Shame on you.
