Sarawak has detected 20 new cases of the hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) since yesterday, the lowest daily figure so far, Bernama reported today.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Dr George Chan, this brought the total number of infected children in the state to 9,069 since the disease was first detected in February.

However, no critically ill children were reported in the current cases.

Miri division recorded the highest number with eight cases, followed by Sibu and Kapit divisions, he said in his daily HFMD updates.

Chan said 11 new hospital admissions were reported today, bringing the cumulative admissions to 1,723.
