The resignation of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president and Sabah chief Saidatul Badru Said Keruak would not jeopardise the party, said its president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

She said there are many Sabahans who are interested to join the opposition party after becoming disenchanted with the Barisan Nasional government.

"Saidatul decided to resign because she felt Sabah PKR was already stable and moving in the right direction," Wan Azizah (left) told reporters last night.

According to her, the main reason Saidatul had resigned was to take care of her mother who was ill.

Yesterday, Saidatul (right) announced that she would relinquish all party posts as she wanted to pay attention to a charity home which she had set up in Kota Belud.

However, she will remain as a party member.

Meanwhile, Wan Azizah, commenting on the coming Sarawak elections, said PKR was negotiating with other opposition parties on the allocation of seats.

On another development, the PKR president expressed regret that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi did not keeps his word in granting a printing permit for the party organ, Suara Keadilan.

She said the party had failed to secure a meeting with the premier regarding this matter.
