Malaysian women shooters saved the blushes of their male counterparts by hitting their targets for a silver and bronze at the Commonwealth Games shooting events in Melbourne today.

According to Bernama, Bibiana Ng and Josephine Cheah combined to poll 758 points for the silver in the women's 10m Air Pistol Pairs while seasoned campaigner Nurul Hudda Baharin partnered debutant Nur Suryani Mohamed for a bronze in the women's 50m Rifle Positions Pairs.

The gold went to Australian pair Dina Aspandiyarova and Lalita Yauhleuskaya with a total of 770 points.

The silver and bronze were the first medals from shooting for the Malaysian team after firing blanks for the past two days of competition.
