I was informed by an acquaintance at a Chinese New Year party that there were certain articles written in the Chinese vernacular press last week regarding the Metramac and Cheras road toll case.

I am an avid reader of both the English and Bahasa Malaysia dailies as I believe reading maketh a man ... lo and behold, to my horror, why is the article written by a former director of Metramac, Hassan Md Ali (who would have proper locus standi) where he succinctly provided facts to rebut claims made by former finance minister Daim Zainuddin be carried in the Chinese press (Sin Chew Daily, page 19 on Feb 9 and Nanyang Siang Pau, page 6 on Feb 10) whereas it drew a complete blank in the English press and Bahasa Malaysia Press.

Did the editors for both Bahasa Malaysia and English press all miss it completely? Or did they think it was not newsworthy? Or perhaps there was deliberate censorship?

Are we transparent enough? Is there justice bestowed upon those who deserves it?
