MCA, MIC love BN, won't leave, says Mat Hasan
Ahead of a BN supreme council meeting tomorrow, Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan today said he believes that component parties MCA and MIC have no intention of quitting the opposition coalition.
"We didn't discuss about BN in Umno," said Mohamad when quizzed on whether reported plans by MCA and MIC to move on from BN following Umno's "continued silence" on racial remarks by its leaders.

"We didn't discuss about BN in Umno," said Mohamad when quizzed on whether reported plans by MCA and MIC to move on from BN following Umno's "continued silence" on racial remarks by its leaders.
Mohamad was speaking at a press conference after chairing an Umno supreme council meeting at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
"I don't think MIC and MCA want to leave BN," he said when further pressed on Umno's position on the issue which is expected to be discussed during the BN meeting tomorrow.
"They (MCA and MIC) were very concerned because they love BN more. That is why they say the (BN) image has to be protected," said Mohamad.
Earlier this week, MCA president Wee Ka Siong and MIC president SA Vigneswaran in a joint statement said they are "moving on" and "exploring a new alliance".
The two leaders, however, did not explicitly say they would be leaving BN.
Tensions between MCA and Umno rose after the former called for the sacking of BN secretary-general Nazri Abdul Aziz.
This followed the Padang Rengas MP's alleged call during the Semenyih by-election campaign for Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools to be closed.
Nazri denied saying he wanted the schools to be closed and accused the media of misquoting him.
MIC top leaders have displayed no indication of a rift with BN although its central working committee member P Punithan questioned the position of his party and MCA following Umno's renewed close ties with PAS.
