Malaysia's Iris Corp said it had won an RM82 million (US$22 million) contract to supply Turkey with components for electronic passports.

Under the deal, Iris will supply electronic inlays to be embedded into Turkish passports, it said in a statement to the Malaysian bourse.

Iris has said it submitted similar proposals to Sudan, Libya and Uganda and would also seek to contracts in other Asian countries including Sri Lanka and Mongolia.

Iris, which is listed on Malaysia's Mesdaq bourse, is a pioneer in the manufacturing of electronic smart cards for Malaysian passports and identity cards.
