      Hariz MohdPublished: Feb 20, 2019 12:11 PM | Updated: Feb 20, 2019 1:10 PM

The Kuala Lumpur High Court was told today that it would not have full control over 1MDB-related criminal proceedings against Najib Abdul Razak, as it can only rely on evidence submitted by the prosecution.

Shafee Abdullah, lead counsel for the former premier, said this before judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah during the hearing of an application to have Gopal Sri Ram removed from the prosecution team.

Arguing that the involvement of Sri Ram, a former judge, in the proceedings would impinge on the process of justice, Shafee said the prosecution has control over what evidence is submitted before the court...

Najib's lawyers are making a monkey of the courts! The judge should be firm and discipline the due process of the law.

Recently Deepak had filed an affidavit mentioning how Shafee had played-up his tricks with false medical pretences to delay Deepak's appearance in the Sentamil/PI Bala's case. The revelations smack of utter hypocrisy of an advocate who may go to any length in probably misleading courts. Now that Judge Hamid Sultan had made public of the Courts' machinations in Anwar's cases, a TCI may possibly also reveal the extent of Shafee's hand in those decisions. He also went around with his beat-the-chest attitude of deriding Anwar with some of the worst behaviour of a prosecutor. Compare this with how Sri Ram has conducted himself. Again, Shafee's argument on the extent of info that may revealed to the defence, that may happen with any prosecutor if it happens but that possibility is negated with a credible prosecution as of now. May be the defence is running scared and is jittery because Sri Ram may be aware of both Shafee's and Najib's tricks. He cannot be fooled.
