Right on. Malay objection is not an acceptable reason not to recognise UEC. If Bahasa proficiency is an issue, then have UEC certificate holders sit for STPM Bahasa paper.

Maybe Gerakan can convince the Malays not to object?

Lets be clear that those who insist on taking the UEC Exam, has done with their eyes wide open. So don't be a spoil bread asking for recognition. If you think the Global University recognises it please go there and don't come back.. If you think this country is not for you..Dont expect the majority of the country to bend over for these minority Elites and Chauvanist Chinese

      Jee Von Choong08:10 AM, 08 Feb 2019

I agree those who took UEC never wanted to go to local Public University since they knew all along its not recognised within the Public University. UEC was actually organised by some Elite Chinese who hoodwinked the local Chinese especially the poor and the middle class to take the exam and hoping to get away with sharing the cost. Of course the Elites will be able to send their children and a few lucky ones would be able to get into overseas university with scholarship and the rest of the poor families will be stuck. I suppose they can send to local private university but at higher cost. Every country has only one local high school exams. Yes foreign University recognised foreign qualification but for their local students its locally recognised exams only. This idiots will argue countries recognised A and O Level. This are global recognised exams. Not UEC which is only recognised by some bunch of Chinese Chauvanist in this Country. Does the Indonesian, Thailand, and Phillipines Chinese has a separate systems of schooling and certificates.. No.. Period..

i dont think this comment is fair. i know of ppl who send their children to independent schools because of the disciplinary problems in the SMK in their taman. those who are put in the peralihan classes have to suffer. teachers are not bothered. it's just sad. the parents have no choice but to send to independent schools, fork out their own money because at least in these fees paying institutions, disciplinary issues are much lesser.

Why local universities need to recognize UEC? When people take UEC, they signed themselves up to study overseas. Only those who did badly in UEC who are raising a ruckus.

      faizul07:36 AM, 08 Feb 2019

whether it's recognized or not nobody cares since it's has been recognized globally in top universities. The issue here is too much promises made by some to win elections and now they got backfire. The moral of the story don't made unnecessary promises in future since Malaysians are stupid.
