I totally disagree with the opinion that Jawi's snoop squad should be disbanded. Why, surely if volunteers are coming forward to do their duty to the nation, they should be allowed to do so.

I think the Jawi head should be commended for coming out with such an original idea to combat the moral decay in this country and I am certainly not referring to couples holding hands and being amorous in secluded corners.

This squad should instead report on traffic offences, they can snoop on low-ranking civil servants who seem to have so much wealth, they can squeal on the appalling services at government and private service counters among others.

These can snoop on indiscriminate rubbish dumping, general cleanliness at public toilets and parks. And while at it on clogged drains, damaged public utilities and criminally-inclined characters.

They can also snoop at government functions to see if any hanky-panky is going on and they can also masquerade as customers to check on customer service and business practices at major service providers. They can also tag along with our enforcement officers to see if any bribes are changing hands.

I think, as usual, we are simply jumping the gun in criticising a noble plan from Jawi. Let it run on a trial period. The originator of this idea should be given a state honour. Bravo, I say!
