DPM wants policies for all, despite Cameron's loss on Malay vote

BN's win in Cameron Highlands on the back of overwhelming Malay support has not deterred Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail from focusing on policies that benefit all Malaysians.
Asked whether the by-election defeat showed that Pakatan Harapan should woo PAS, Wan Azizah stressed that the government wants everyone's support.
"We want all parties to give us support, not only PAS.
"We are a multiracial country, all the races in this country (should) come together to bring forward... to think of policies for all to move forward in developing our country," she told reporters after launching an event in Ampang, Selangor this evening.
BN candidate Ramli Mohd Nor beat Pakatan Harapan's M Manogaran with a 3,238 vote majority in yesterday's by-election.
Various analyses have pointed to PAS support for BN as a major contributing factor, as together they were able to secure most of the Malay votes in Cameron Highlands.
Selangor government think tank Institut Darul Ehsan warned that the results showed Harapan needed to focus more on securing Malay support.
However, Wan Azizah believed one other factor for Harapan's loss was that some voters think that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is still with BN.**
"There are many factors, one of them is that the area there is big.
"There are some that we did not get to explain to them, they still think that Mahathir is still with BN.
"This is a contributing factor," she said.
Meanwhile, on contradicting comments issued by Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng concerning the status of the controversial East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, Wan Azizah said she would seek clarification from the ministers on how this happened.
"I was in Bangkok at that time, and couldn't attend the cabinet meeting.
"So I would have to ask why did this happen. Because this is a major decision which I believe requires a thorough consideration," she said.

It only goes to show that in order to win the next elections, the key is the Malay votes. That is why the B40 is the prirority. PH must buck up with programs to improve the living standard of these people. Free education right up to the university level. Cheaper and affordable govt. built housing units. Better healtcare at a faster pace. Fishermen, farmers and rubber tappers to be given more aid annually rather than Brim for every household. These are some of the ways to help to ease the sufferings of the B40 people. There will be other ways and it is time to buck up and concentrate on the job. Stop politicking and focussing on projects, directorship posts or even enriching oneself. Have the passion for the nation. Like Lee Kuan Yew had.
