CAMERON POLLS | Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad visited the BN stronghold of Felda Sungai Koyan in Cameron Highlands this afternoon, where he urged voters to back Pakatan Harapan candidate M Manogaran in tomorrow's by-election.

He also said there is no point in voting for BN and Umno, when its leaders are making a beeline to join Harapan.

“BN has been rejected for the first time (in GE14) because it was led by a 'penyangak' (crook). So we discarded (former premier) Najib (Abdul Razak). He has been thrown out by his own party.

“Many in Umno have met me, including (acting president) Mohamad Hasan and (president) Ahmad Zahid Hamid Hamidi wanting to work together.

“Many want to join Bersatu in droves, want to join Harapan. People no longer trust Umno. I am certain Umno has no future, so why pick them?” he added.

Meanwhile, Mahathir said BN's move to pick Orang Asli man Ramli Mohd Nor as its candidate, was motivated only by a lust for power.

"They (BN) say they will look after the Orang Asli. This is a lie. They picked an Orang Asli to contest, they don't love the Orang Asli, but they love positions, that is why (they fielded Ramli)," he claimed.

He also dismissed his former adversary Najib Abdul Razak's efforts to campaign in Cameron Highlands, saying that unlike his father Abdul Razak Hussein who looked after Felda and rural areas, Najib was only a "crook".
