Trans community open to learning about Islam, not forced 'conversion'

Transgender activist Khartini Slamah is open to learning about Islam, and even seeking guidance from religious authorities.

The award-winning Sarawak native said, however, the problem often lies with clerics who insist that transgender people should be "converted" back to their "true selves" before they can start to learn more about the religion.

"To me, it doesn't mean just because you are a transgender you cannot learn about religion (Islam), you can. I want to learn it...

As activist Khartini Slamah notes, clerics often demand that they change back to their 'true selves' first.

Islam is for believers . God treats everyone the same. why should we judge. We are here to be judged. Live , love and let live. All you holier than though believers just be reminded that you will be judged on the last day, being tolerant of others is one of the pillars in which we are judged. love one another. to be saved

It is the Muslim Muftis who are fanatics. Religion is not fanatic, it is the religious teachers and leaders are fanatics. Only in Islamic men are crazy of transgender personalities, just like to hook themselves. Later behave like holy basterds. In muslim religion have the worst fake rules that are not found in other religions. All these muftis and imams should be thrown in fiery volcanoes.

who are we mortals to judge. The Divine brought them to this World. 2 people in unison created them in a gift given by the Divine. So how mere mortals can judge them. How?

Transgender does not exist among humans alone. I wanted to plant a nutmeg tree and went to the government agricultural station to look for a seedling. He told me the seedling could turn out to be "jantan" or "betina" (male or female). They didn't have a seedling so I went to a private nursery. The nursery owner told me nutmegs were not only "jantan" or "betina", but also "pondan" (transgender)!.  He explained they were differentiated by the linings on the fruit. Now, what have the muftis to say about this? The THIRD GENDER does exist in nature. It is not an acquired behaviour like drug taking, gambling, corruption, and a whole lot of other vices. So the muftis want to go against nature?

The ultra conservative US Supreme Court has gone against medical science. Some people have bodies that do not match their sexual propensities. They have a physical problem which their will cannot resolve.

      Michael Ang07:56 PM, 23 Jan 2019

That's because there is no 3rd gender, it's got nothing to do with religion.

      how kok ming07:41 PM, 23 Jan 2019

You cannot preach wanting to be a progressive, democratic first world nation for as long as you vouch to remain trapped within narrow religiosity bias and unwilling to recognise the third gender. Period.

The transgender community cannot expect Islam to change its tenets to suit the agenda of the community. It is absolutely clear that the Muslim Prophet absolutely abhored transgenders and recommended that they be turned out of their homes. In Hadith Sahih Bukhari: Narrated Ibn Abbas: "The Prophet cursed effeminate men (those men who are in the similitude (assume the manners of women) and those women who assume the manners of men, and he said, "Turn them out of your houses ."  However , the transgender community can take some comfort in what appears to be Muhammad's transvestite behaviour.  In an authentic or 'Sahih' Hadith, Bukhari Number 2442, Muhammad explained to this disgruntled wives who felt he was not treating them fairly (because he was spending most of his time with his child bride Aishah) , that he only got Allah's revelations when he was in Aishah's garments. It would appear then that Muhammad was not averse to cross dressing!

Islam is for believers, not seekers.Believers are tribalists willing to go to war with seekers and others.
