SIS office broken into twice in a week

The Sisters In Islam (SIS) office in Petaling Jaya was broken into for the second time within a week and the organisation is wondering if this could be an act of intimidation.
Two break-ins in a week leaves the vocal organisation wondering if there is more than meets the eye here.

In the latest break-in on Friday night, a kettle, DVD player and a radio were stolen. The previous incident on Jan 14 saw a computer being carted away.
Contacted today, SIS programme manager Norhayati Kaprawi said both incidents could be forms of intimidation towards the organisation.
"The kind of work the organisation does may not be agreeable to some, especially those concerning women's issues which some might think is too radical," she added.
The SIS office is located in a double-storey bungalow in a residential area.
Workstations ransacked
Meanwhile, Norhayati said a police report has been lodged on the incidents.
"During the first incident, the thieves were believed to have wandered around the office because they ate the food in our fridge, left cigarette butts and used our staff's slippers," added Norhayati.
Apart from stealing SIS executive director Zainah Anwar's personal computer, the thieves had also ransacked several workstations.
SIS was one of the women's organisations that had raised strong objections over the controversial Islamic Family Law (Federal Territory) (Amendment) 2005.
The government later decided the law needed further consideration before implementation.
